I have been trying to research my ancestry and have discovered that some of my direct relatives came from Bow in the early 1800s. Can I join your local history society? I would also like to buy the book about Bow over the past 700 years.

I am writing a piece about ‘Lizzie Lemure’ a famous London opera singer in the 1850’s, protege of Lord George Paget and the Prince of Wales (Edward VII). Elizabeth was the daughter of Mary Ann Knibbs (nee Lilly) who was born in Bow in around 1816 the daughter of John and Ann Lilly. I have visited the church at Nymet Tracey but I can find no references to the Lilly family in the church or churchyard.
Any help you can give would be much appreciated and, of course, fully attributed in the article and any subsequent book or TV film.

I have a collection of 15 bound volumes containing programs and libretti of operas performed in London between 1860 and 1880, each with the name Edward Hoare. All were either from the Royal Italian Opera Covent Gareden or Carl Rosa Company.
There are several inserted photos of opera singers. Could this be anything to do with Hoare and his relationship with Lemure or Knibbs. Is this the same family that then settled in the USA, Chicago ro New Jersey ?
